How to Secure your Computer from Malware or Virus? Internet has emerged as the major way to join the world. It made the things easier. Being most advantageous thing it has an adverse side too. Nowadays it has become normal get virus or malware in computers. Where do these come from? Well, they enter your computer or PC because of your negligence. The unreliable websites or links you click, files you download etc may contain virus or malware. Using or downloading these may risk your computer. With some precautions you can secure your computer. 1. Update your software

Hackers usually try to break your software’s security to hack your computer. If your software wouldn’t be able to handle it, their work will become easier. Your software should be up to dated to keep your computer secure. Microsoft regularly releases updates to fix bugs. Windows have a feature of automatically update itself with new releases. In case, your windows is not getting updated automatically or you have turned it off. Make sure to check for it and update it manually. These updates will help your computer and prevent it from hackers to an extent.

2. Turn on the firewall

Each and every computer software has its inbuilt firewall. A firewall helps your computer from unwanted intrusion. Hackers, worms, malicious attacks, virus etc can’t steal your data from your computer, because this firewall acts as a wall and prevent them to reach your computer. To keep your computer secure your work is to keep a check on that your firewall is working properly or not. In your windows setting option you can turn it on or off.

3. Don’t click on mails.

As per Microsoft, about 48.8% virus infections in computer happen because of the unknown mail clicks. To avoid virus infections never click on the links or images in the mail you get by unknown sender. This links are actually a way to intrude your database.

4. Backups

The main loss we have after a virus attack is of our data. You should take backup of your data at regular intervals. Backups will help you to regain it after any malware attack. Don’t just satisfy your self with single backup. Take backups at both offline and online. It will ensure that you won’t lose your data even after the attack. For offline backups take it in any hard disk or CD, and disconnect it with your computer after taking the backup. Keep it safely at a secure place. For online backups use cloud storage.

5. Update your browser

Browsers have security features too. Many browsers alert you when something malicious is found on any site, and blocks such site themselves. Always remember to update your browser so that your computer will be secured from any type of infection.

6. Install an antivirus

The most common suggestion anyone would get for virus protection is to install antivirus. Often, we don’t. Antivirus are the softwares which are prepared to fight against the latest malwares and viruses, and remove them if found. You should always install an antivirus software on your computer to keep it free from any threats. If you don’t have antivirus yet, install it now. You can also install free antivirus available for your computer’s safety.

7. Don’t click on pop ups

It is advised to block the pop ups on your browser. These pop ups may be malicious. For safety purpose, block it in your browser’s setting option or close its window. If you are unable to close the window, restart your computer.
