2 Best Alternatives to Microsoft Office for Android Device. Microsoft Office, is one of the most successful products Microsoft has ever made. Almost every office space in the world uses it as a way to store data. And Android devices being mini computers in today’s world, storing data on them is equally important.
Why an Alternative?
Though Microsoft provides free Word, Powerpoint and excel apps for android but they literally consume hundreds of MBs of space.
I personally used all the three apps on my android phone for a week, and using those apps for creating just one document daily, made those app cache around 250 MB worth of cache. Creating a mess of around 1 GB on my phone. That’s the reason I looked out for an alternative and found these.
2 Best Alternatives to Microsoft Office
WPS Office
Unlike Microsoft Office Suite Android apps, it dosen’t make you download seperate apps for each of the softwares. Other than getting an alternative for the Word, Excel & Powerpoint softwares, you also get an additional memo editor which saves files in .txt format and a Scanner which can scan documents and create PDFs out of it, much like that of camscanner.
Comparison with MS Office
Comparing this counterpart to the original Microsoft Word and other softwares, I’d have to say that this one is much better. It provides a much more user friendly user interface than the orignal word android app. All the options are well classified and illustrations make the app’s navigation even more cool and simpler. Though many features like changing fonts requires you to buy membership, many of the features are free to use. It also provides you with some in built templates, so does Microsoft which makes it even closer to the original one.
The only drawback this app has is the huge amount of advertisements stuffed into it. They also prompt their users to buy the full version a lot.
Polaris Office
This app though not much better than WPS Office in terms of features, does have a very less number of advertisements and dosen’t prompt us to buy the full version every other second.
Comparison with MS Office
The app is also a close counterpart to Word and also includes all the features that word offers, though there are some things on which it misses out. Example – It dosen’t have Heading 3 , Heading 4 , Heading 5 and Heading 6 options. But if your usage is limited to simply making some documents here and there, it is more than enough.
Ease Of Use
The app also has an easy to use interface and good navigation. The app provides a lot of themes options while creating a new document, which dosen’t require you to start from scratch.
